Rheumatology: Disease Processes, Treatment and Care
A 20-credit, level-3 module offered by the University of Leeds.
It is suitable for all health professionals who care for patients suffering from a rheumatic disease. The module can be taken as part of a degree course or as a stand alone module.
The module has three main components:
The disease processes underpinning the rheumatic diseases ranging from inflammatory arthritis in adults and children to the spondyloarthropathies and connective tissue diseases
· The nature and type of therapeutic intervention in rheumatology including the contribution of the multidisciplinary team
· The psychosocial aspects of rheumatology care and the effects on patients and their families.
The module commences in September 2008 and completes in May 2009. Teaching is held on alternate Tuesday afternoons from 1-5pm. This module is free to all NHS employees working in the Yorkshire and Humber Strategic Health Authority.
