A collaborative venture between the University of Bristol, the University of the West of England and the United Bristol Healthcare Trust.
Patients with chronic disease start as novices but master living with a chronic disease. This exciting module aims to show how professionals and patient resources can be utilised and co-ordinated by the multi-disciplinary team to enable the patient to deal with arthritis.
The module is multidisciplinary, thus students bring differing viewpoints to the module, which centres around:
- The consequence of illness
- Psychosocial factors and coping
- Evidence base for patient education and self management
- Team working, communication, supporting patients towards empowerment
- The application of these themes to the development of professional roles
The module can be stand-alone, taken as part of a degree pathway (20 credits at degree or Masters level), or attended unassessed.
