Suitable for all heath professionals who care for patients suffering from a rheumatological disorder and will use a range of teaching delivery methods. In the second semester there is a strong emphasis on the psychosocial aspects of the disorder and strategies for helping patients deal with this are discussed.

The module has three main components:

  • Disease processes of rheumatological disorders which will cover anatomy, physiology and immunology for children and adults
  • Nature and type of therapeutic intervention in rheumatology including the contribution of complementary therapies
  • Psychosocial aspects of rheumatology care and the effects on patients and families.

The module can be taken as part of a degree course or as a stand alone module.
