Book Review: Fibromyalgia Syndrome

Choy, E. (2009) Fibromyalgia Syndrome Oxford Rheumatology Library OUP
    ISBN 978-0-19-954751-7

This a good all rounder for people who wish to know more about fibromyalgia (FMS). Each chapter is distinct with references and key points.

The case for FMS is discussed and Dr Choy explains what investigations are required to assist in the diagnosis of FMS with differential diagnoses.
A brief history of and epidemiology of FMS sets the scene. The importance, to patients, of acknowledging FMS as a condition is stressed.

Chapter 6 is particularly useful as it gives a quick guide to diagnosis and management. A number of case studies are presented to illustrate the learning points and management tips.

Overall this is a useful book which may convince those who are undecided about FMS.
