NRAS Westminster event

NRAS held an event hosted by the All Party Parliamentary Group for Inflammatory Arthritis in Westminster on the 15th July.

The focus was on the importance of the Multi-Disciplinary Team in the treatment and care of people with RA.

Many NRAS members attended the event, one of whom, gave a moving account of her experience of care from different members of the team who had been instrumental in her life, having been diagnosed with Junvenile Idiopathic Arthritis at the age of 5.

Presentations from Professor Peter Taylor, Occupational Therapist Sandi Durham, NRAS CEO Ailsa Bosworth and others highlighted the importance of early access to the team and the need to sustain and build on those specialist skills. Talking about the key opportunities in RA that 2009 brings, Ailsa also called for the health professionals to implement the NICE RA Guidelines and use the IA commissioning pathway with local commissioners to bring about improved care for people with RA.
