BSR Medical Student Bursaries 2009
Supported by an educational grant from Pfizer.
To qualify for the award applicants should submit a piece of their work which is relevant to rheumatology or a related discipline.
The application can be in the form of one of the following:

Case report and discussion
-
Elective report
-
Original research
-
History of medicine
The submission can be clinical or scientific in nature and should address the following questions:
-
Why did you decide on your chosen topic?
-
What evidence in the literature was there to support this?
-
How was the work carried out?
-
How may this work change your approach to caring for patients’ musculoskeletal disease / improve care for patients in the future?
Applications will be assessed against the following criteria by a panel from BSR:
-
Originality
-
Structure
-
Presentation
-
Use of an evidence base
-
Clarity of discussion and conclusions
-
Relevance to care of patients with musculoskeletal disease
The six winners achieving the highest marks will each receive:

Complimentary two day conference registration
-
Economy travel expenses
-
Two nights accommodation (B&B basis)

The opportunity to present your work as a poster at the 2009 Annual Conference and discuss the winning work with interested colleagues

At the Annual Conference you will be allocated a mentor from BSR who will be responsible for ensuring that your experience is enjoyable and educational
Winners will be notified by email in January 2009.
Submission Deadline
Students must submit their work as an abstract via our abstract website.
The deadline is 28 November 2008 at 23:59. Please note that the site will close at 0:00 and abstracts will not be accepted after this time.
Rules & Eligibility

Open to UK medical students at any stage of their training but would be most suitable for those in their clinical years (years 3 – 5

Applicants need not be members of BSR
-
The submitted work should be original and written by the applicant, although help from a supervisor/teacher is acceptable.
