Michael Mason Prize
The esteemed Michael Mason Prize is awarded by the Heberden Committee for excellence in clinical or scientific research in the field of rheumatology.
To apply submit 3 to 5 published papers on a related subject, supported by a 1,000 word editorial including an explanation of why the work is significant for the discipline of rheumatology. Please also submit a copy of your full CV.
References should be numbered consecutively and should conform to the style of the BSR journal Rheumatology.
The winner will receive:
- £1,000
- The Michael Mason medal
- Complimentary registration to Rheumatology ‘09, 28 April – 1 May 2009
- The opportunity to present their work during the plenary session at the Annual Conference, 2009
- The winner’s work may also be published in the BSR journal Rheumatology
Submission Deadline
The deadline for the submission of 2009 applications is 28 November 2008.

Rules & Eligibility
- Open to medical and non-medical candidates who are members of BSR.
- Applicants are expected to be at a relatively early stage of their career.
