Abstract submission deadline: Monday 22 November 2010

All authors will be contacted by email in January 2011, and will be informed whether their abstract has selected as a poster or oral presentation. You don't need to wait for the official correspondence to find out if your abstract has been accepted, simply login to our abstract submission website to ascertain its status. This is available for authors from January 2011 onwards.

Submission and Review:

  • It is essential that authors read the instructions given on the abstract submission website before proceeding with the submission process.
  • BSR cannot be held responsible for any technical problems experienced by authors relating to their own computer or server. We therefore advise that authors submit their work at least one week before the official deadline to allow for any technical difficulties you may experience.
  • No amendments can be made to abstracts after submission.
  • Please note only one table is permitted per abstract.
  • All abstracts will be marked blind by at least three peers.
  • The Abstract Assessors will consist of the BSR Heberden Committee and co-opted members chosen for their expertise in a specific abstract topic area.
  • Please do not submit an abstract unless at least one author is able to attend and willing to register for the day/days on which the abstract will be presented, either orally or by poster. To clarify, if more than one of your abstracts are selected for presentation, you are required to register in full for each day that you are presenting.
  • Should you require technical assistance when submitting your abstract, please click on the Tech Support button on the top right hand corner of the abstract site.

Selection:

  • All authors will be contacted by email (please ensure you give and maintain an active email address) in January 2011, and will be informed whether their abstract has been selected as a poster or oral presentation, or rejected.
  • All accepted abstracts will be published in the supplement to the BSR journal Rheumatology. The abstract book can also be purchased in advance of the meeting.
  • All abstracts will be available to view online in April 2011 via the BSR website: www.rheumatology.org.uk
  • As in 2010 you do not need to wait for the official correspondence to find out if your abstract has been accepted or rejected, simply login to the abstract submission website to ascertain its status. You will need to retain your login and password from the time of submission. Available January 2011 onwards.

Poster presentations:

  • A large majority of presentations will be accepted as posters. Each poster will be on display for one day of the conference. Each day there will be a dedicated poster viewing session. These are very popular with attendees and provide a useful opportunity for one-to-one interchange.
  • Please note that you or one of your fellow authors will be required to be present at your poster during the entire of your poster viewing session. Please do not submit an abstract unless one author would be willing to stand by the poster and answer questions during these sessions.
  • Further information about when you need to set up and remove your poster will be sent to poster presenters in due course. By submitting an abstract you agree to adhere to these timings.
  • Poster Board Size: 2M X 1M LANDSCAPE
