This three day course will consist of teaching GALS & REMS, recognising early synovitis interpreting common imaging and investigation, improving diagnostic skills, managing common musculoskeletal conditions and undertaking/teaching joint injection. The course will take the form of short lectures, round robins, case discussions and small seminar work.

Aims/Objectives:

Sessions will include topics on the symptoms and mechanical changes in rheumatic disease, hands-on clinical workshops. Management of the foot and ankle pathology will also be supplemented with hands-on workshop sessions.

US Anatomy

Date: 22 October 2010

Aims/Objectives:
This is an intensive day in the anatomy lab revising 3D anatomy with cadaveric specimens.  Small groups will revise the regional anatomy guided by anatomy demonstrators alongside live ultrasound demonstrations. The course is aimed at anyone wishing to improve their anatomy skills for musculoskeletal ultrasound.

This three day course will aim to help attendees familiarise themselves with how to use ultrasound machines. Demonstrating the appearance of normal tissues and the systematic approach to scanning common joints. By the end of the course delegates will have sufficient hands-on experience at the scanning common joints (hands, wrists, knees, ankles and feet) to enable them to start a musculoskeletal ultrasound service in their respective place of work.

Day two will incorporate Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), Connective Tissue Disease (CTD), Vasculitis and Paediatric Rheumatology.

Advanced Ultrasound Course

Aims/Objectives:
This two day course aims to build upon the knowledge already gained from the Basic Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Course. The programme will provide a comprehensive review of regional musculoskeletal ultrasound. The emphasis will be on the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of musculoskeletal pathology and the pitfalls of interpretation. The faculty will consist primarily of consultants in musculoskeletal radiology. Candidates will have adequate opportunities to assess patients during the practical sessions of the programme.
