The Garrod Prize

The prestigious Garrod Prize is open to scientists with a non-clinical background currently working in rheumatology or a related discipline.The BSR would normally expect candidates to be within 15 years of graduation experience.

The submission should be in the form of a full CV, 3-5 published papers on a similar theme, a 1,000 word free standing and potentially publishable editorial, and an explanation of your contribution to the work.

References should be numbered consecutively and should conform to the style of the BSR journal Rheumatology.

Entrants should explain why their work is significant for rheumatology or rheumatologists.

The winner will receive

  • £1000
  • Complimentary registration to Rheumatology 2011, 12-14 April 2011
  • The opportunity to present their work during the plenary session at Rheumatology 2011
  • The winner’s work will be considered for publication in the BSR journal Rheumatology

Submission deadline

The deadline for the submission of 2011 applications is Friday 7 January 2011. Entrants will be notified by the 31 January 2011.

  • Applicants need not be BSR members.
  • Open to applicants with less than 10 years experience in research activities.
