Introduced in 2005 these awards highlight examples of innovation and excellence that have benefited rheumatology medicine.
The awards will recognise innovation in rheumatology - a project, initiative or pioneering new strategy that has been utilsed in practice to improve patient care.The winners will receive:
- £500
- Complimentary registration to Rheumatology 2012 (fees paid will be reimbursed)
- The chance to present the work as an oral or poster presentation at the conference
- A framed certificate, to be presented by the BSR president or other BSR representative during the conference
Entries should meet the following criteria:
- The project or initiative should have been introduced within 18 months of submitting the entry, and should not have been entered for the award previously
- The entrant should be the originator of the new strategy or concept
The entries will be submitted through the BSR’s abstract submission process, and will be peer reviewed by a team of abstract reviewers, before being finally selected by BSR’s Heberden Committee. The judging panel will select as a winner the entry which, in their opinion, show the most innovative approach to providing an improvement to the management of their patients, together with measurable outcomes. The decision of the committee in all matters is final.

If you are submitting a collaborative entry, please note that only one prize package will be awarded.Abstract submissions must adhere to the abstract submission guidelines, full details of which are available at www.rheumatology.org.uk/abstracts
How to apply
Applications must be submitted via the online abstract submission.Submissions are now closed
Submission deadline is Friday 18 November 2011. Entrants will be notified by 16 December 2011. Please note that the abstract site will close at midnight and abstracts will not be accepted after this time.
