BSR Biologics Register News

Document Actions
We are very proud to report that in a session at the last ACR meeting (Boston November 2007) which summed up the best research of the year in rheumatology, a report by arc's Epidemiology Unit (as part of the BSR Biologics Register) was considered to be one of the top three pieces of clinical research undertaken last year.

The report* showed a reduction of myocardial infarction in patients with rheumatoid arthritis who responded to TNF alpha blockade.

In other BSRBR news, following lengthy negotiations with Roche and the arc Epidemiology Unit, I can now confirm that BSR Biologics Register has been extended to include a study of the use of rituximab in the treatment of patients with rheumatoid arthritis.  We are aiming to recruit 1,100 patients and anticipate that the vast majority will have failed a single TNF alfa blocking drug (as well as the more conventional disease modifying drugs).

Information about how to register your patients has been sent round to every rheumatology unit in the country, so do please start registering your patients as soon as possible.
