The British Society for Rheumatology is aware of the announcement of possible safety concerns surrounding the use of valdecoxib. However, we are keen to review the data in more detail before commenting further. Any information concerning the safety of arthritis drugs should be taken seriously and patients who have concerns about taking any of the COX II drugs should contact their GP or rheumatologist.
