BSR Statement on EMEA NSAIDs Announcement

The British Society for Rheumatology notes the announcement made by the European Medicines Agency (EMEA) today that current evidence is insufficient to change the balance of risks and benefits of NSAIDS and welcomes its recommendation that there be no changes to current prescribing practice until further research into their effect on cardiovascular risk has been carried out. If patients are still concerned we recommend that they contact their GP or rheumatologist to discuss their treatment.
