Samantha Peters moves on from BSR
After serving BSR for over a decade as our Chief Executive, Samantha Peters is moving to a new role at the end of March. She has been appointed as Chief Executive and Registrar at the General Optical Council.
I am sure you all wish to join me in congratulating her on this new post and thanking her for her time at BSR, during which she has served alongside seven different Presidents. I have no doubt that her new post will be a golden opportunity for her.
Samantha has made many contributions to BSR. Whilst I cannot mention all of them here, I thought it appropriate to note three. Firstly, during her years at BSR the organisation has grown substantially to meet the ever present challenges facing our specialty, whilst maintaining a stable financial situation. Secondly, our excellent headquarters in Bride House will remain a reminder of her effective stewardship. Finally, I believe she has ensured our patients are placed at the very centre of our mission. These contributions, and the many other ways that she has supported BSR, are all matters for which she deserves our thanks.
The trustees will appoint an agency to assist with the recruitment of her successor and are keen to do this in a considered and planned manner. During the interim period, the Society will be managed by Sue Murray-Johnson as Acting Chief Executive assisted by the other members of the Senior Management Team.
