The West Midlands have an active programme of regional audit and a rolling cycle of peer review with the East Midlands. The Midlands Rheumatology Society hosts two scientific meetings a year with the aim of exchanging knowledge and ideas on rheumatology and allied subjects and continued development of the speciality.

Geographical area covered:

The Midland Rheumatology Society is a regional group of health professionals connected with Rheumatology that covers East and West Midlands. The region encompasses Rotherham, Kettering, Lincoln, Chesterfield, Northampton, Sheffield, Doncaster, Mansfield, Nottingham, Leicester, Derby and Burton in the East Midlands and Birmingham, Coventry, Warwick, Hereford, Wolverhampton, Cannock, Stafford, Dudley, Solihull, Shrewsbury, Stoke on Trent and Crewe in the West Midlands.

Where rheumatology services are delivered:

The West Midlands incorporates the rheumatology units from across Staffordshire, Shropshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Birmingham and the Black Country.

Where specialist training takes place:

Dudley, Wolverhampton, Cannock, University of Birmingham, Solihull, University Hospital Birmingham, Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals, Stoke, Coventry, Worcester, Hereford, Warwick, Shrewsbury and Burton.
