Mentoring

Our mentoring scheme offers a unique opportunity for career development and support by pairing you with a trusted mentor with relevant skills and knowledge.

We offer two individual programmes, one for developing clinicians, nurses and health professionals, and one for academics.

You can be part of one or both, mentor and/or be mentored.

We recommend meeting 4-5 times per year, but mentoring relationships can be as long or short as you require.

Relationships can be conducted face to face, phone, email or virtually, via Skype, FaceTime and so on.

Research mentoring

Our rheumatology researchers mentoring scheme is targeted to support a wide range of potential researchers to develop their academic interests and career ambitions.

Whether you are an experienced consultant looking to move into an academic career, an early career researcher, or have no research experience but an interest or idea you’d like support to develop, then we encourage you to apply.

The scheme is intended to encourage autonomy and self-development and mentors are not expected to collaborate on projects.

Mentoring workshop: Annual Conference

Meet other participants, explore and share the mentoring experiences and learning through interactive, learner-focused discussion, allowing time for reflection and feedback.

The workshop will cover an introduction to the scheme, the benefits of mentoring, how mentoring can support your career, the role of mentee/mentor and how to use the opportunity well.

Location: Annual Conference, International Conference Centre, Birmingham, room TBC

Date and time: Tuesday 30 April 2019, 13.15-14.15 (lunch provided)

Email us by Friday 12 April to reserve your place
