The MDT Advisory Council was established by the Board of Trustees to advise on challenges across the multidisciplinary team (MDT) in paediatric, adolescent and adult rheumatology. It’s key in sharing local developments and identifying how BSR can effectively support members as well as sharing relevant BSR information for wider dissemination.

After consulting with various BSR members and other like-minded organisations to explore potential improvements, we’re pleased to announce:

New BSR regions in England

We’re re-aligning our regions with NHS England and Improvement (NHSEI) regions and reducing the number of regions to seven, so we can address a number of longstanding vacancies and introduce MDT representation and collaboration within each area. Existing devolved nations structures continue.

The new regions are:

  • East of England

  • London

  • Midlands

  • North East and Yorkshire

  • North West

  • South East

  • South West

MDT representation

For the first time, dedicated regional/devolved nation roles exist on the Council for:

  • Nurses, allied health professionals (AHPs) and other groups such as pharmacists and psychologists (new)

  • Members working in paediatric and adolescent rheumatology (new)

  • Members working in adult rheumatology

As many of these roles are new or vacant, we're opening nominations in our upcoming elections round. For further information about these changes and to register your interest in any of the positions, please contact the Membership team.
