The BSR is delighted to reveal the two winners of the 2023 Early Career Funding Call.

This year, the two winning applicants will conduct research on inflammation in arthritis-associated uveitis in children and young adults and will co-design self-care opportunities and improve digital ulcer (DU) care.

Our two winners this year are:

Christine Chew, NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer at the School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (University of Bristol).

Christine will be determining the shared immune processes within the joint and eye that drive inflammation in arthritis-associated uveitis in children and young adults.

Tanaka Ngcozana, Senior Research Nurse, Rheumatology Clinical Trials Unit, Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust.

Tanaka will focus on co-designing interventions for scleroderma digital ulcers with patients and healthcare professionals.
