The society runs an annual bursary programme to support those working to improve patient care in rheumatology.

Applications for this round of bursaries have now closed.

Our education bursary is an opportunity for members to secure funding to use towards one of our courses or conferences (or a course that we endorse) in order to enhance their skills or knowledge in rheumatology.

There were 16 bursaries available for this round. The bursary funds the following courses only:

  • Osteoporosis: Diagnosis, Management and Clinical Application of Current Concepts: 18 October, Sheffield

  • Transitional Care for Children and Young People: 28 October, Manchester

  • Core Skills in Rheumatology: 25-26 November, Bristol.

  • Rheumatology for Specialist Nurses: 13-14 December, Liverpool.

Applicant information

This bursary is open to all medical trainee and health professional members. Successful applicants will receive up to £300 to be used on conferences/courses registration, travel (economy) and accommodation

How to apply

  • One-page application form outlining the conference/course you would like to attend, your suitability for the bursary and detail how you would use this experience to enhance your professional knowledge/

  • Two-page CV (if you submit a CV which exceeds two pages, only the first two pages will be sent to the reviewing panel)

If you are awarded a bursary you will be issued an expenses claim form to complete and return to us. You must provide receipts before the bursary money can be issued. Bursaries are a retrospective reimbursement so will not be issued until after the course/conference.

The bursary money will be reimbursed up to three weeks after receiving the claim. Claims must be made within three months of the course/conference; any claims received after this will not be reimbursed.

Please do not hesitate to book your place onto the course/conference you wish to attend, as you may not hear of your success until after registration has closed.
