BSR’s Paediatric and Adolescent Quality Improvement Network (PQuIN) aims to drive quality improvement in Paediatric Rheumatology care and embed quality improvement throughout routine clinical care. The meeting is open to all Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology MDT members with an interest in delivering improvements in care for patients with JIA. We meet virtually every 3-4 months and there is no requirement to be a member of BSR to join.

PQUIN builds on the success of the Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) Learning Collaborative (JIA Learn), a BSR-funded programme which aimed to improve the quality of care for children and young people with new-onset JIA living across the UK. Clinically led by Dr Gavin Cleary and Dr Flora McErlane, six teams from across the country worked through an improvement collaborative model, coming together in peer-learning events across 18 months to share ideas, learn QI methodology and work towards improving patient care.

Based on co-production with children, young people and their families, the teams established a joint improvement aim and measured success through data collection, with support from RUBIS.Qi, the quality improvement and innovation arm of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Through JIA Learn, BSR helped foster a community of clinicians equipped with the skills and mindset to drive continuous improvement. The full evaluation and reflections on the success of JIA Learn can be found here: JIA Learn & Rubis QI: Transforming Juvenile Arthritis Care.
