As we mark 18 months since the launch of our homecare medicines campaign, join us in assessing the current state of rheumatology homecare medicines services. We want to gauge the reliability and safety of today’s services, and what impact they are having on you, rheumatology departments, and patient care.

Your experiences will inform the focus of our campaign and conversations with policymakers and parliamentarians as they review the future of homecare services. This includes how they’ll be configured, and regulated and the accountability of poor or failing services. It's crucial that the evidence BSR provides in this next stage is current and accurate.

Your participation in earlier surveys has yielded powerful results. It enabled us to tell policymakers that patients were missing or delaying doses of their medication, and that unreliable services increased calls to helplines, adversely impacting patient outcomes, your workloads, and the mental health of NHS staff. This evidence was critical in driving the campaign forward. To quote the House of Lord’s Public Services Committee:

“While this is a complicated syistem with multiple variables, we are persuaded by the weight of evidence from service users that there are real and serious problems in the sector.”
