BSR and BHPR Abstracts
Abstract Deadline: FRIDAY 28 NOVEMBER 2008, 23:59 GMT
The abstract website is currently down but will be up and running shortly.
Submission and Review:
- It is essential that authors read the instructions given on the abstract submission website before proceeding with the submission process.
- BSR cannot be held responsible for any technical problems experienced by authors relating to their own computer or server. We therefore advise that authors submit their work at least one week before the official deadline to allow for any technical difficulties you may experience.
- No amendments can be made to abstracts after submission.
- All abstracts will be marked blind by at least three peers.
- The Abstract Assessors will consist of the BSR Heberden Committee and co-opted members chosen for their expertise in a specific abstract topic area.
- Please do not submit an abstract unless at least one author is able to attend and willing to register for the day/days on which the abstract will be presented, either orally or by poster. To clarify, if you are selected for both a poster and a poster discussion session on different days you are required to register for both days in full.
Should you require technical assistance when submitting your abstract, please contact Marathon Multimedia:

Selection:
- All authors will be contacted by email (please ensure you give and maintain an active email address) in January 2009, and will be informed whether their abstract has been selected as a poster or oral presentation, or rejected.
- All accepted abstracts will be published in the supplement to the BSR journal Rheumatology. The abstract book can also be purchased in advance of the meeting.
- All abstracts will be available to view online in April 2009 via the BSR website: www.rheumatology.org.uk
- As in 2008 you do not need to wait for the official correspondence to find out if your abstract has been accepted or rejected, simply login to the abstract submission website to ascertain its status. You will need to retain your login and password from the time of submission. Available January 2009 onwards.
Poster presentations:
- A large majority of presentations will be accepted as posters – and may also have the opportunity to take part in a poster discussion session. These are very popular with attendees and provide a useful opportunity for one-to-one interchange.
- Please note that there are three poster viewing sessions and you may be required to participate in any given one of these sessions, even if it does not fall on the day of your poster.
- Please do not submit an abstract unless one author would be willing to stand by the poster and answer questions during these sessions.
- Posters have to be set up during the afternoon preceding the next day’s viewing session. It is not acceptable to set up your poster on the morning of the poster viewing session.
- Poster presenters that are not registered to attend the meeting for the day preceding their poster viewing session may collect a security pass from the registration desk to enable them access solely to the poster area in order to set up their poster. Such passes will not entitle the wearer access to any sessions.
