Core Skills in Rheumatology is aimed at the whole multi-disciplinary team.

With talk streams for consultants and trainees, allied health professionals and nurses, the course offers education for all team members.

As well as the parallel streams, there are keynote lectures and practical sessions, giving a chance to update your knowledge, refresh your practical skills and exchange best practice with peers.

Topics for consultants and trainees include:

  • What you need to know about the kidneys, lungs, eyes and gastrointestinal system

  • Acute rheumatology

  • Immunological tests in the rheumatology clinic

Topics for health professionals and nurses include:

  • Mental health

  • Patient activation and motivational interviewing

  • Non-pharmalogical management of symptoms

Objectives

  • To provide attendees with an in-depth refresher and update of the basic core skills for those working within the rheumatology field

  • To ensure all delegates are comfortable with and capable of examining the musculoskeletal system

  • To identify the different roles of the multi-disciplinary team

Cancellation terms and conditions

Cancellations received in writing by the British Society for Rheumatology events team by 28 October 2019 will be entitled to a full refund minus a cancellation fee of £25 for members and £40 for non-members. We regret that we cannot offer refunds for cancellations received after this date. Substitutions may be made but this will incur a £25 administration fee.
