Working With Us * For Individuals * Legacy

What will your Legacy be?

The British Society for Rheumatology (BSR) is committed to promoting excellence in the treatment of people with rheumatic and musculoskeletal disorders (RMDs) and by leaving a legacy gift to the BSR in your will, you will be helping rheumatologists and health professionals deliver the best care.

- "I want to help create a world in which arthritis and musculoskel conditions are diagnosed early, treated effectively and prevented where possible."

- "I want to ensure that innovative new approaches are encouraged by giving progressive rheumatologists the support to thrive"

What is a legacy gift?

- A legacy gift is simply a donation in your will and is a very cost-effective way to give to charity. Such donations are exempt from inheritance tax which means that every penny goes directly to our work.

- If you would like to discuss your legacy with BSR, please contact the CEO's office at or give us callon 020 7842 0900

- "I want to give back to my profession"

- "I want to raise the profile of arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions to ensure widespread awareness"

- "I want to support those delivering care for rheumatic musculoskeletal disorders"

How the BSR will use your gift

- We will increase the public’s consciousness and understanding of RMDs and encourage early diagnosis and treatment to minimise the debilitating effects of them.

- Dispel the myths and make everyone aware of the facts:

- 10 million people in the UK have a form of RMD

- 200,000 people suffer from ankylosing spondylitis in the UK

- Three quarters of people diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis are of working age and there are 20,000 new cases in the UK every year

- We will continue to engage the public and campaign for RMDs to be continually high on the political and public agenda.

- Promote and nurture excellence in rheumatology

- Your gift will help all our clinicians and health professionals to receive the support, training and education they need to advance their knowledge, skills and practice.

- We will help to develop standards of care and health policy to improve services, and campaign for clinicians to be able to give patients the most effective treatments available.
