Overview

Code of conduct

We strive for all BSR events and conferences (both in person and online) to be a positive and inclusive experience from beginning to end. We celebrate the diversity of all our attendees, exhibitors, and staff and will not tolerate discriminatory behaviour by or towards anyone taking part in our events (whether in person or virtually). By attending a BSR event, you’re agreeing to respect and be kind to everyone present, regardless of their gender, race, religion, age, sexual orientation, disability or any other aspect of what they look like, where they come from or who they are.

We do not tolerate
- Threatening or intrusive behaviour
- Unsolicited physical contact
- Verbal or written harassment or intimidation
- Alcohol or drug abuse or any of the behaviours associated with this
- Comments that indicate superiority related to gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age or religion.
- Sustained disruption of talks
- Advocating for, or encouraging any of the above behaviours

Anyone engaging in such behaviour may be asked to leave the event (or removed from the event platform) and may be refused entry to future events, at the sole discretion of BSR.

How to report an issue
If you are a victim yourself, or suspect/witness someone is the victim of abuse, you can speak to any member of BSR staff (either in person or online via the platform helpdesk) who will immediately notify one of our Safeguarding Leads. Alternatively, you can report an issue to us anonymously by completing this form, or you can email events@rheumatology.org.uk. Please note any issues raised with us will be treated in complete confidence and not shared with anyone outside of the organisation.
