Speaker: Dr Md Yuzaiful Md Yusof

Join this expert led webinar for a practical update on the new BSR guideline for the management of systemic lupus erythematosus. The session will focus on what the updated recommendations mean for day to day clinical practice, from assessing and monitoring disease activity through to treatment selection across different levels of disease severity.

Key areas will include earlier use of immunosuppressive and biologic therapies, reducing long term glucocorticoid exposure and applying a treat to target approach in SLE. The webinar will also review important changes in the management of lupus nephritis, including the increasing use of combination therapies, alongside recommendations for monitoring, comorbidity prevention, non-pharmacological interventions and the delivery of lupus care.

Clinical cases will be used to explore how these recommendations can be applied when treatment decisions are less straightforward.

Learning objectives

• Understand the key changes in the updated BSR guideline for SLE 2026
• Review current recommendations for disease assessment, monitoring and treat to target management
• Consider how to select and sequence conventional immunosuppressive and biologic therapies while minimising glucocorticoid exposure
