Case-based Conference 2025 will take place on 4–5 November 2025 at the Cardiff Marriott, Mill Lane. This in-person event will bring together consultants and the next generation of rheumatologists for two days of in-depth case discussions, expert-led sessions and peer-to-peer learning. The programme is designed to explore best practice across both adult and paediatric rheumatology, with a strong focus on applying clinical knowledge to complex real-world scenarios.

Rheumatology Respiratory Disorders Session

Led by Dr Helen Parfrey and case submitters
This session will provide essential insights into diagnosing and managing respiratory disorders within rheumatology. Participants will:

  • Learn to diagnose and manage systemic autoimmune rheumatic disease-associated interstitial lung disease (SARD-ILD).
  • Improve diagnostic skills in identifying granulomatous and vasculitic lung disease.
  • Gain confidence in diagnosing and subcategorising pulmonary hypertension.

Crystal Arthropathies Session

Led by Prof Abhishek Abhishek and case submitters
This session will address the complexity of crystal-related joint disorders through detailed case analysis. Learning objectives include:

  • Approaches to managing difficult-to-treat gout, including cases involving drug intolerance and comorbidities.
  • Investigation and management of early onset calcium pyrophosphate deposition disease (CPPD).
  • Recognition and treatment of Crowned dens syndrome.

Axial Spondyloarthropathies Session

  • Update and improve knowledge of management strategies, including treatment of resistant disease and management in the presence of comorbidities.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of the complications associated with spondyloarthropathies.

Inflammatory Myopathies Session

Led by Prof Hector Chinoy and case submitters

  • Gain knowledge of antibody-specific subtypes in the diagnosis and management of inflammatory myopathy.
  • Identify and manage overlap syndromes and comorbidities.
  • Improve recognition of diagnostic mimics and atypical presentations.
  • Learn about novel and targeted therapies, including JAK inhibitors and biologics in idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM).
