Our case report submissions are currently open. If you're thinking of submitting a case report but you could do with some guidance, we have put together some handy prompts below which we hope will help. 

Sport and exercise topic:

  • Do you have case examples to demonstrate effective MDT input in the management of acute sports injuries?
  • Can you describe challenging cases of upper or lower limb acute sporting pathologies - what has been your approach?
  • Please can you send in cases where athletes are pre-conditioned for extreme exercise and sports medicine
  • What has been your management plan in dealing with chronic back pain in established athletes?
  • How do you treat accelerated osteoarthritis or severe bone marrow oedema in athletes?
  • Please can you send us case examples of tricky to manage tendinopathies?
  • Do you have any cases where imaging (CT, MRI or USS) has played a revolutionary role in diagnosis and management of sports injuries?
  • Please can you send in examples of managing adolescents in elite sports setting?
  • Do you have any cases where rehabilitation therapy has played a major role in optimising recovery pathway in athletes?

Osteoporosis topic:

  • Do you have a case which highlights the challenge of managing osteoporosis?
  • Do you have a case which has been challenging in managing due to multiple drug failures including and especially after anabolic therapies have been used?
  • Have you had a case relating to other forms of osteoporosis that have been challenging to treat including steroid-induced osteoporosis, pregnancy associated osteoporosis, patients with low BMI and osteoporosis, coeliac and osteoporosis etc?
  • Do you have any interesting cases where you have successfully treated osteoporosis with non-pharmaceutical approaches?
  • Have you had any osteoporosis cases which have involved a multidisciplinary management approach?
  • Do you have any osteoporosis patients where you have employed combination treatments (e.g. concurrent anabolic and anti-resorptive agents, HRT and anti-resorptives) successfully?
  • Do you have any cases with a history of cascading vertebral fractures?
  • Do you have examples of cases who have been challenging to treat due to associated co-morbidities (e.g. alcoholism, eating disorders, cancers etc)?
  • Have you had any cases with osteoporosis where you have encountered problems with diagnostic and monitoring issues with their disease and what you did to get around these (e.g. other BMD measuring modalities, bone turnover markers etc)? 

Skin topic:

  • Do you have case examples to demonstrate effective MDT working of skin manifestations in rheumatological disease?
  • Have you seen an interesting skin disease as an atypical presentations of a systemic rheumatological condition?
  • have you experienced any skin complications as a result of the rheumatological medications we prescribe?
  • What happens when none of our standard accessible rheumatology medications work, can we call on MDT input if there are wider manifestations of disease?
  • What is the trickiest rheumatology patients you have managed with a dermatology complaint?

Rheumatoid Arthritis topic:

  • Do you have a case of RA which has been difficult to manage due to multiple drug failures?
  • Do you have a case of RA with challenging extra articular complications e.g. skin, eyes, lungs, renal etc?
  • Have you encountered a case of RA with a rare complication (amyloid) or consequence of active disease?
  • Do you have a case of rheumatoid vasculitis that has presented unusually or been difficult to control?
  • Have you encountered cases of RA with challenging co-morbidity as a consequence of disease or treatment? Patients with high BMI or mental health disease
  • Tell us an instance about a case of RA where you have used novel treatment pathways

Case report submission will close on Wednesday 28 June. Submissions will be reviewed by a panel and your submission may be chosen to be an oral presentation, poster showcase presentation or a poster.
