15 December 2025

As 2025 draws to a close, it’s the perfect moment to pause and celebrate everything the specialty achieved through the National Early Inflammatory Autoimmune Diseases Audit (NEIAA). This year has been defined by collaboration, improvement, and continued commitment across the rheumatology community. Thank you to every clinician, audit lead, coordinator, and team member who has contributed to another successful year.

Thank you for contributing to NEIAA

Engagement with the audit has made 2025 one of our strongest years yet. Since December 2024, over 7,000 patients have been recruited into the audit- an incredible achievement that reflects the dedication to improving care. Every data submission helps us strengthen the evidence base, identify gaps, and drive better outcomes.

What we achieved together in 2025

This year saw major developments for the programme:

  • A refreshed identity: NEIAA was re-named to better reflect the audit’s inclusion of Connective Tissue Diseases and Vasculitides, which have been captured since 2023.
  • Geographical expansion: The audit extended to Jersey, widening participation and ensuring a more complete UK-wide picture.
  • Future stability: The audit was extended by an additional two years, securing delivery through to 2027.
  • Performance Dashboard launch: After extensive development, the dashboard went live - offering trusts real-time insights to support quality improvement.
  • Published research: Two major journal articles were published this year, highlighting the audit’s value to clinical research:
  • 7th Annual Report: Our latest report showcased key findings, including our highest-ever recruitment figures and improvements in timeliness of treatment initiation.

These achievements are a testament to the effort and enthusiasm of teams across England, Wales, and now Jersey. Thank you for being part of this progress.

What’s next in 2026

We’re already looking ahead to another impactful year. Key dates to note:

  • 31 March 2026 – End of the audit cycle
  • 14 April 2026 – Deadline for submitting data for 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026
  • October 2026 (date TBC) – Publication of the 8th Annual Report

We also anticipate hosting several NEIAA events at BSR26 - more details to follow soon.

Finally, as the programme approaches recommissioning next year, we would welcome your feedback. What resources would help you? What tools or guidance would strengthen quality improvement locally? Your input will be vital as we shape the future of NEIAA.

Thank you once again for everything you contribute. Here’s to a productive and collaborative 2026.
