Dr James Galloway, who's been instrumental in the creation and development of the ePROMs platform, looks at what's happened in the two months since ePROMS launched.

"BSR's ePROMs platform went live in August and already almost 200 patients have started using the system, with all four countries in the UK taking advantage of the system. The ePROMs portal is designed as a free-of-charge mechanism for patients to share information about their symptoms with their clinical teams using a secure online portal.

"Clinicians can choose from a selection of Patient Reported Outcome Measures, such as the HAQ (adult and JIA versions), self-assessment DAS tools, and mental health screeners for their patients to complete. The clinical team can send immediate links for patients to enter information, and also set up recurring requests, so patients can actively track symptoms over time.

"As with any new system, there are always things that need to be adjusted. We built the ePROMs platform using experience from our national audit platform (which has already collected patient-reported data on many thousands of patients), but there will undoubtedly be things we can do to improve the system.

"We're actively reviewing the forms included and looking to expand the repository of questionnaires available. There is a plan to link to an instructional video on self-assessed DAS for patients. We are also working with our partners in paediatric and adolescent rheumatology to explore how we can ensure the system supports people of all ages.

We know there have been many questions coming in about the ePROMs platform, and we'll continue to update our FAQs page with common enquiries.
