Our members have been involved in shaping outpatient programmes across England.

Led by Dr Zoe McLaren and members of the BSR Clinical Affairs Committee, we continue to influence national recommendations and design resources needed for our members to act locally to improve their services.

Outpatient services continue to be the subject of significant attention from national bodies and policymakers.

Transformation in elective outpatient care has been a priority for many years to ensure services are both person-centred and sustainable. Elective recovery post-COVID-19 has escalated the calls for modernisation and change.

We are delighted by the appointment of consultant rheumatologist, Dr Theresa Barnes as RCP clinical lead for the joint RCP/NHS England Outpatient Recovery and Transformation Programme. Our members will be joining the planned programme summits across the course of 2023.
