Make your mark in the rheumatology community by seeking a leadership role with us.

If you’re interested in shaping the future of BSR, supporting our outstanding clinical engagement, education and registers and research programmes, advancing knowledge and practice in the field of rheumatology through our scientific programme at conference, and/or expanding your local and national networks, joining a BSR committee this election round could be the perfect opportunity for you.

We’re looking for passionate and dedicated members working within a rheumatology multidisciplinary team in a paediatric, adolescent or adult service throughout the UK to stand election for roles on our:

  • Board of Trustees – 3 vacancies, including nurse and paediatric protected roles
  • MDT Advisory Council – 15 vacancies, including Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland
  • Clinical Affairs Committee – 5 vacancies
  • Education Committee – 4 vacancies
  • Heberden Committee – 10 vacancies, including Chair
  • Registers and Research Committee – 3 vacancies, including Chair
  • Trainee’s Committee – 9 vacancies, including Scotland, Wales

We also have an exciting role this year for a paediatric rheumatology consultant who can represent the paediatric and adolescent community as a Vice President (non-trustee role).

President, Jo Ledingham said, "Please do consider putting yourself forward for election. There are a range of vacancies this election round and we really want to have representation, as far as possible, from all 4 nations, from the length and breadth of the UK, from the whole MDT and covering the whole life course.

"Working on BSR committees has presented me with opportunities that would not have otherwise come my way and I've found the work to be hugely fulfilling.’’

Nominations will open on 1 November and will close at 5pm on 17 November. Details of individual posts, how to apply and the election process can be found below, including drop-in sessions for anyone to have a chat about roles, concerns and time commitment.

Successful candidates will be notified January 2024 and will take up post officially at the end of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 20 June 2024.

BSR membership is a huge asset and we are committed to encouraging inclusion, equality and diversity. We are actively trying to increase the diversity of our staff team and volunteer roles.
