BSR Rare Disease Fellowship, 12 – 15 March 2018      The Vasculitis fellowship is co-badged with Vasculitis UK 

Following the outstanding success of our Scleroderma fellowship in March, we are pleased to bring you the next opportunity in our rare disease fellowship series. The Vasculitis fellowship provides hands-on clinical experience across three days, delivered by leading experts in the management of vasculitis at a nationally-recognised specialised centre.

"This new initiative is linked to our strategic aims of providing education that supports our members to deliver the best clinical outcomes, and our membership of the Rare Autoimmune Rheumatic Disease Alliance (RAIRDA). This is a tremendous opportunity to acquire concentrated hands-on skills. I would strongly encourage anyone wishing to improve or develop their services for people living with vasculitis, to apply."

 

Learning outcomes:

At the end of this fellowship you will have increased your knowledge and skills in:

  • Undertaking comprehensive clinical assessment of patients with systemic vasculitis, including large vessel and IgG4 related diseases, including the use of validated assessment systems
  • Appropriately requesting and evaluting vascular imaging studies including CT, MRA, PET and ultrasoun
  • Interpreting tissue biopsy results in combination with clinical and imaging assessment
  • Devising treatment plans based on holistic assessment including the role of a specialist multidisciplinary team
  • Knowing when and how to use high cost drugs
  • Understanding the treatment options for refractory disease
  • Developing a specialised MDT service including ambulatory, in patient, and networked care
  • Understanding current transitional research in vasculitis, and the challenges and opportunities of participating in clinical trials
  • Knowing the support and information that Vasculitis UK can provide to people living with the condition

Up to 6 CPD credits per day will be available for attendees.
