Now's the time for you to help shape the programme for next year’s Annual Conference in Liverpool.
Whether it’s a topic that hasn’t been covered before or an issue you’d like to explore in more detail, sending in a session submission is your way to make it happen.
Dr Ruth Richmond, chair of the Heberden Committee which organises the conference programme, says: “It’s our role to ensure that conference delivers high quality content on the issues you’d like to hear about. Everybody is welcome to input ideas and we need members across the MDT to get involved.”
Physiotherapist Jade Skeates pooled some ideas with the Physiotherapy Working Group last year and submitted a proposal. “I was a complete novice to the process,” she says, "but the Heberden Committee liked the idea. With some tweaking and a few conversations to further evolve the proposal, the reviewed submission was accepted.”
Jade advises that you float your ideas with colleagues. She explains: “You don't need to be the expert in your field to know what would be good to learn about. Have the confidence to put your ideas forward.”
If you’d like to submit an idea, think about what you want the session to achieve and which speakers could be involved. We’re looking for a wide range of topics including practical sessions and theoretical discussions.
Jade adds: “The support from the BSR team was there from start to finish. I didn't quite believe it was something I could do, but I was proved wrong! It was a rewarding learning experience, and I won't hesitate to get involved in session submission again."
“The idea doesn’t need to be completely formed,” says Dr Richmond. “You just need a clear suggestion of what a session would contain. If selected, you’ll have the opportunity to build the programme you want to see.”
Submissions are open now and we welcome suggestions from all four nations to showcase innovation and best practice from across the UK.
